Inter-library loans and document delivery servicesAn inter-library loan and document delivery service is available for material held in the collection, including unpublished company and departmental reports on microfiche. Requests are accepted via email, fax and phone or via the Libraries Australia (external site, opens in new window) Document Delivery system. Standard delivery time is up to 1 week. Urgent requests are preferred by fax or phone. About the libraryThe PIRSA Geoscience Library (formerly the South Australian Department of Mines and Energy Library) was established in 1948, from an informal collection of the Geological Survey of South Australia. It holds the world’s largest collection of material dealing with South Australian geology, and holds over 16,000 books, 370 serial titles, audiovisual, CDrom and rare book material on geoscience, mining and earth related topics. The Library has a particularly strong national and international collection of Geological Survey holdings, from all states around Australia, and from overseas countries including the United States, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. The Library also has access to published and unpublished company and departmental reports dealing with mining and exploration activities in South Australia. |
