I wish to view core samples from a particular map sheet and/or exploration licence in South Australia?

Please provide me with the following information;

  • Name of drillhole (Eg. SAE – 8 or Gidgealpa #32)
  • The starting/finishing depth of samples to be viewed (eg. 252.3m – 1125.9m and signify either core or cuttings or both)
  • The name of the operator (Eg. Santos Ltd or Pasminco)

By using the Drillhole Database (SA_GEODATA) on the SARIG website, you can search via 1:250K and 1:100K map sheet as well as by coordinates (and a radius around a central coordinate), exploration companies and tenement information.

Once you have linked to SARIG, click on the "Geodata" heading and then the "Core inspection" link. After you have entered all the required information, you simply click the "Add Drillhole" button to start searching the drillhole database.

Can I arrange a date to view those samples?

Yes you can, by stating on the above request, the specific date you would like to inspect the material as well as contact phone/fax numbers to confirm the appointment.

All these details, along with the drillholes you wish to view, can be submitted via SARIG. After you have finalised your searches, simply click the "finalise inspection" and then "submit".

It should be noted that in the case of CONFIDENTIAL drillholes, a letter of authority to view and/or sample, must be presented to the Manager, prior to the inspection date.

Can I sample those drill cores to take away for analysis?

As part of your induction to using the facility, the sampling procedures will be explained to you in detail by the Vore Library Manager or the staff members on site.
