The Mineral Resources Group is acknowledged nationally and internationally as the lead agency facilitating ecologically-sustainable mineral exploration production and development in South Australia. The group provides a supportive framework for industry across all areas of development, from initial exploration to operating mines and eventual rehabilitation. Exploration initiativesThe seven-year $30.9 million PACE (Plan for Accelerating Exploration) initiative which includes $10 million for drilling partnerships with industry has helped to significantly boost mineral exploration activity in South Australia. The Minerals and Energy Division manages the eight PACE operational themes, each with a range of strategies that are considered critical for accelerating resource exploration in South Australia. PACE won the 2007 Inaugural Premier's Award for Growing Prosperity. SA Strategic Plan targetsMineral expenditure has rapidly increased over the last four years from $41.7 million in 2003/04 to $355.2 million in 2007/08, making enourmous contributions to the South Australian Strategic Plan. The ScoreCard measures give critical information on strategic development targets, as well as assisting in the development of the programs designed to aid expansion of the mineral industry. South Australian Resources Information Geoserver (SARIG)The Minerals and Energy Division have developed SARIG, an online application to enable users to search, view and download information including existing tenement information, geodata and reports, plans and publications.
